darby: you a boy.

me: that’s right.

darby: mommy and darby are girl. daddy and henry is boy.

me: who taught you that?

darby: umm…. mimi and papa.

(c.c. tells me it was actually her.)

me: are mimi and papa girls or boys?

darby: mimi a girl. papa a boy.

me: darby, why do you think boys and girls tend to be married to each other?

darby: [thoughtful pause]……umm…… matching outfits.

me and c.c.: [burst of laughter]

darby: [giggling now] matching outfits!
